Because we all know how I feel about green bean casserole:

I am with you, Kristin. I feel that way about a number of dishes that people make for EVERY SINGLE STINKIN' family get-together. And it's always the crappy stuff...make of prepackaged ingredients that are just plain unhealthy in every sense of the word. I, for one, like to mix it up a little bit. I never bring the same thing twice, no matter how much they beg me. This year I have been selected to bring the salad...which to my in-laws means iceberg lettuce, one cherry tomato and a sprinkling of yellow cheese. Boy, do they not know what they're in for! I'm planning a spinach and field greens salad with gorgonzola, toasted pine nuts, orange peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Hell, they probably won't eat it and go for THE green bean casserole instead. UGH. ;0)

I was talking with someone recently about her plans for Thanksgiving and she was unhappy that her family's meal was going to be unhealthy because there'd be no vegetables "like green bean casserole." Healthy, my ass.

Luckily, that particular recipe never caught the taste buds of anyone in my extended family, so I won't have to keep myself from dry heaving right there at the table tomorrow.

Hey! What's wrong with green bean casserole! Guess I better head back to the store for some damn pine nuts!

Kuckie, every time my cousin (who I like very much) has us for Thanksgiving dinner, she asks me to bring jello. I don't even eat jello. I hate jello! I can barely stomach making jello!!!! It makes me wonder if she has that little confidence in my ability to cook????

Clarice--I want to eat dinner at your house : )

Jen--drying heaving at the table--lol!!!

It's okay Rick, though I make all kinds of fun about green bean casserole, I do usually eat it : ) Gotta love those onions!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

*sigh* Sadly this made an appearance at our table this year, primarily due to the instance of my oldest. Ick. Seriously. Even her boyfriend, a budding gourmet who has worked with good chefs in the past, likes it. Yet another sign of the coming apocalypse.

Hope your thanksgiving was a good one!

Hey Mary : ) I made the 'homemade' version of this casserole and it wasn't too bad. Texture was *definitely* better with fresh beans!!!

We had a really good Thanksgiving (which came as a surprise to me : )

I'm not real crazy about the green bean casserole, but I always eat it. Sadly, it's one of the best items at my mother in-law's.

Everyone in my wife's family are masters of desserts, but they just don't care as much about the real food.
